Study-NY is an ethical contemporary womenswear based in New York and run by Montreal-born designer Tara St. James. Study-NY makes a point to use sustainable and ethically-produced materials in their clothing without subscribing to the traditional fashion calendar. They believe that the clothes we wear should be well-made using quality materials that are designed to last, and that the artisans behind these clothes should be respected and cared for. All of Study-NY's garments are manufactured and cut in New York City with the exception of some collaborations in Peru and Mexico City,
in which workers are paid fairly and work in proper conditions. Study-NY also makes a point to research and use different environmentally friendly textiles, as well as low impact, environmentally-friendly dyes. Study-NY's management team visits their manufacturers at least twice a year to verify that they are adhering to their company's Manufacturing Inspection guidelines, which are in line with the Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production guidelines.
